On the 1st of December 2014, Lagos state governor Gov Babatunde Raji Fashola at the Lagos House signed the sex offenders register. present also at the signing was the Attorney General of Lagos state and commissioner for justice Mr Ade Ipaye and the deputy Gov of Lagos state Orelope Adefulire were also present at the signing of the register according  to Gov Fashola cimes against women and crimes against children who traditionally are the most vulnerable.he welcomed the signing of the sex offenders bill and went ahead to mention that this was a positive step and that crimes against women and children should not go unpunished and that such crimes are usually over looked but not anymore. he went on to say that women should be empowered in any way and mentioned the effort of the his government in protecting women and children. he thanked the attorney general and CSOs and NGOs that have been involved in protecting women and children..
