Discussing The Rejected 5 Gender Bills @Raypower FM

Director of Programmes, Morenike Omaiboje was live on Raypower FM Alagbado on Thursday 11th May to discuss the rejected 5 Gender bills by the National Assembly.

 

The aims of the rejected proposed bills were to provide: 
1.Special seats for women at national assembly 2.Affirmative action for women in political party administration 
3.To grant citizenship to foreign-born husbands of a Nigerian woman. Already, a Nigerian man’s foreign-born wife is automatically a Nigerian citizen. 
4.The 4th bill sought to allocate 35% of political positions based on appointment to women and creation of additional 111 seats in National Assembly as well as at the state constituent assemblies. 
5. The bill also seeks the inclusion of at least 10% Affirmative Action in favour of women in ministerial appointments.
