WOCON VISIT TO NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION SERVICE
WOCON assisted our Partners Girls' Power Initiative Benin to obtain an interview with the Lagos Zone Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service, Ekpedeme King at their Head Office in Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos. WOCON represented by Mayokun Toye and GPI's other Partner in Badagry Mr. Philemon representing AWCY were also in attendance at the high powered meeting with the Executive Director of GPI, Mrs G Madam Grace Osakue and Blessing Ehiagwina also of GPI. Other officers at the meeting included the PRO Mr. Jide Ogungbe, Kayode Adedigba and Teena Odenden. Discussions center around issues relating to WOCON/GPI Border rescue work and the Comptroller confirmed that this will be resolved as the issues of Children on the Move has also been a major concern for the Comptroller General in Abuja Mr.Mohammed Banbandele MFR, Additionally, a Book published by NIS Comptroller-General, named PASSPORT TO SAVE NIGERIA was discussed. The Book we were informed elaborates on current tends in Trafficking. Mr. King informed that an MoU should henceforth be generated by us (GPI/WOCON/AWCY) after which our request will be forwarded to Lagos State Govt. The MOU we were told will serve as an effective tool for a wider coverage of our mission in Nigeria.
