INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION(FGM)

February 6, 2025

To commemorate the *INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM)* on 6th February 2025, WOCON launched its Campaign against FGM targeting young women in Itafaji Health Clinic in Itafaji area of Lagos State.
We aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of FGM, discuss its devastating consequences on women and girls and empower them to resist cultural pressure to undergo the practice.

We also cautioned clinic staff about unscrupulous medical practitioners who attempt to legitimize FGM 'under the guise that it is legal'.
Furthermore, we educated the young women on the fact that there is no medical justification or approval for performing FGM on any girl child.
