THE ROLES OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATON (CSOs) IN THE MOBILIZATION OF CITIZENS FOR ELECTORAL PARTICIPATION

To effectively measure, or maintain accountability and progress towards the goals of an electoral process, adequate research, planning and implementations must become basic for a successful election and post elections transitions.

WOCON attended a workshop held in Lagos on the 31st August 2017, organized by the African Youths Initiative on Crime Prevention (AYICRIP) in partnership with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Lagos State. The workshop themed THE ROLES OF CSOs IN THE MOBILIZATION OF CITIZENS FOR ELECTORAL PARTICIPATION. WOCON acts as a collaborating body to sensitize the public especially marginalized groups on their civic rights and responsibilities and hence positively steer them to optimize their participation as citizens in the political sphere.

WOCON thus works in synergy with INEC, AYICRIP, CSOs and others to see that voters are properly educated at voting, information is evenly disseminated, mobilization is adequately carried out and an effective feedback is achieved for a sustainable electoral process in Nigeria.

The crux of democracy is freedom. A free and fair election begets a truly democratic nation. Let us make every vote count in 2019.
